After a final round blow out by 54 hole leader Caroline Masson (78) and a spirited charge by Brittany Lang (67), it was once again the best player in the women's game by far, maybe the best player in the game period, Yani Tseng (69) who birdied the last two holes to win the 2011 Women's British Open at Carnoustie by 4 shots at -16.
Her 5th major at only 22 years of age, a golf record, Tiger was 24 before he won 5. Annika Sorenstam, who's old house Yani lives in has 10 majors, and it is only a matter of time until Tseng beats that record.
Yani's proudest possession is the certificate on her wall that says she has learned to speak English, and in my opinion with this tour being dominated by Asian girls with no end in sight, the LPGA will be forced to become more global, especially China, and Yani Tseng from Taiwan will be the girl to bridge that gap between the USA and the Far East.
Finally what the heck are American women going to do, who will step up to be as consistant as this little girl from Taiwan, and others from South Korea, Japan etc..
We all thought it would be Michelle Wie, but she is merely a run of the mill pro these days. I'd love to hear a round table of Paula Creamer, Michelle Wie, Stacy Lewis and maybe an older pro like Juli Inkster to hear what they really think..
