Wind and rain for the weekend... that's more like it !!!

Good morning, it's already 9am at Royal St Georges, the first tee time is at 8.55am (3.55am est) and my colleague Bob Weeks who is at the Open reports that it is very windy and raining lightly right now, and that is the forecast for the next 4 days, with a high temperature of 19c.. The wind is from the SSW, in other words right off the English Channel..

Wind, rain, a tough links course and a packed field... that's more like an Open Championship.!!

The cut fell at +3 which means that the entire field is within 7 shots of the lead, and it also means a whack of big names are gone.. Padraig Harrington (73-71-144),  Lee Westwood (71-73-144), Justin Leonard (70-74-144), Graeme McDowell (68-77-145), Matteo Manassero (73-72-145), Luke Donald (71-75-146), John Daly (72-74-146), Geoff Ogilvy (74-73-147), Ian Poulter (69-78-147), Bernhard Langer (75-73-148), Ernie Els (72-76-148), Sandy Lyle (73-76-149), Matt Kuchar (74-77-151), Ben Curtis (77-74-151), Mark O’Meara (76-76-152), David Duval (78-77-155) and Todd Hamilton (77-79-156).

While the leaders Darren Clarke and Lucas Glover are off at 1005am est, the one pairing that jumps out as luck would have it is Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler at 7.25est

It will be a dramatic weekend at Royal St Georges, and it is already underway..
