McQuillan surges to the top of the leaderboard at the John Deere Classic

Matt McQuillan from Kingston, Ontario has had a tough first year on the PGA Tour, in fact he has MC in his last 10 outings...

All that has just changed playing the John Deere Classic at the par 71 TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois where he has just posted at -7 64 to tie with veteran Davis Love for the lead halway through round 1, and that 64 included bogey's on his first and third holes !!

He also fired 7 birdies and had an eagle 3 at the 2nd. He used only 26 putts.

Mike Weir shot +4 75, and David Hearn continues his fine play -4 67 currently T13.
Chris Baryla is still on course..

The women are playing the US Open at a very tough Broadmoor's East course at altitude in Colorado and I will post a report on them later today as well as a wrap on all the rest of play today..

Late addition: 3rd year pro Kris Blanks, ranked 175th in putting has just birdied his last 5 holes to post a -8 63 for a 1 shot lead over McQuillan and Love...
