I was looking at the scores from this Greenbrier Classic where Stuart Appleby shot 59 last year, but the field's stroke average was a ridiculous 68.3.
Players who played the tough Shaughnessy course at our Canadian Open last week with a stroke average of 73+ must think this Old White course is a piece of cake.
Well the Old White TPC course has undergone a makeover. The renovations included lengthened tee boxes and reseeded greens that are less receptive to approach shots. As a result it surrendered only 41 rounds under par as opposed to 81 last year.
Trevor Immelman's best round of the year a 6-under 64, gives him a 1 shot lead over 5 others. He is finally recovering from wrist surgery 2 years ago.
Shooting 65s were Gary Woodland, Billy Mayfair, Derek Lamely, Webb Simpson and Australian Steven Bowditch. (for a full scoreboard click on PGA Tour)
