Scottish Open.. course closed due to heavy rain, now a 54 holer

Heavy rain overnight has flooded Inverness and surrounds including the Castle Stuart GL so the earliest play may resume is 9am est, 2pm in Scotland. Here is the official statement..

Castle Stuart Golf Links, the site of The Barclays Scottish Open has been closed to the public due to the heavy overnight rain in the Inverness area which has flooded the course and surrounds.

The second round was due to resume at 7am but that will not happen. There will be a further update on the situation at 12 noon but there will be NO PLAY before 2pm

Members of the public are asked not to travel to the site at the present moment - further updates will be given on www.europeantour.com when they are known.

Check out my Friday Golf Wrap for details at the end of play yestereday.

Remember this links course is set on sand and drains very quickly, so as long as the rain lets up they will get some play in.

However there is rain (95% possibility) in the forecast right through Monday so I don't think they will get more than 54 holes in.

Breaking News....just in from Dougie Donnelly at 7.30am est

Don't think I've ever seen so much damage to a golf course-two serious landslips ,and everywhere is flooded. Now a 54 holer, play at 3-maybe.
