Roger Sloan just a shot off the lead at Puerto Rico Open

PGA Tour Puerto Rico Open leaderboard https://www.pgatour.com/competition/2019/puerto-rico-open/leaderboard.html

Battling gusting ocean winds in sunny Puerto Rico, Roger Sloan crafted a -5 67 tying the low round of the day and he finds himself T4 at -7 just a shot off the three way lead at the Puerto Rico Open, held by DJ Trahan 67, Nate Lashley 68, and Mexican Roberto Diaz 68, all at -8.

Sloan (70,67) is back on the PGA TOUR after earning his Tour card via Web.com Tour Finals in 2018. He made an eagle on the par-4 17th, holing a wedge from 75 yards.

Afterwards Roger said he's benefitting from lessons he learned in his first year on tour. His best result was earlier this year at the Desert Classic T12.

The calendar year's just kind of getting started. We're almost here at the midpoint of the season, but I'm excited for the next few months, it's going to be good.”

Trahan (69 67) who had battled a bad attitude earlier in his career, is now 38, hasn't won in 11 years while Lashley (68 68) is on a medical exemption and is no stranger to playing well in the Caribbean, having won three times on PGA Latinoamerica in 2016.

David Hearn has followed his opening 68 with a battling +1 73 T19 at -3.

Adam Svensson, Taylor Pendrith and Ben Silverman all missed the cut.
