The DP World Tour returns to the outskirts of Paris and Le Golf National for Continental Europe's oldest national open - the FedEx Open de France.

Returning to Le Golf National

The FedEx Open de France makes its return to the storied Le Golf National this week after a year absence due to extensive work undertaken to the long‑time DP World Tour venue. 

The course, which has hosted the championship on 30 occasions – including an unbroken run from 2002 to 2024 – underwent significant changes linked to the expansion of Paris’ Metro Line 18, a major infrastructure project that will eventually place a station just 300 metres from the clubhouse. 

In total, 17 bunkers have been added, while greenkeeping teams also refined greens on holes one, two, nine and 18, reshaped lake edges, and built new tee boxes to ensure the course can seamlessly pivot between hosting elite tournaments and welcoming everyday golfers.

Michael Kim defends

Michael Kim returns as defending champion after securing his maiden DP World Tour title with an impressive finish at last year’s FedEx Open de France. 

Starting one shot off the lead, he quickly gathered momentum with a near‑40‑foot birdie at the second and turned in 33, adding further gains at the seventh, ninth and tenth to stay firmly in contention. After a steady run of pars, he surged late with birdies at 16 and 17 to move ahead, then produced a superb up‑and‑down from a bunker at the last, holing a 16‑foot par putt to win by a single stroke.

A top ten at the DP World Tour India Championship followed, with a further appearance at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship. 

After another season on the PGA Tour, which included the highlight of a 59 in July at the 3M Open, Kim now makes his return to France.

Inside the field

Defending champion Kim returns to Le Golf National to play in Europe for the first time since July, joining a field headlined by European Ryder Cup heroes Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick, Ludvig Åberg and Viktor Hovland, who all arrive in Paris following the BMW PGA Championship. 

They are joined by fellow PGA Tour winners Kristoffer Reitan, Ryan Gerard, Cameron Smith and Bud Cauley, and recent DP World Tour winners Scott Jamieson and Eugenio Chacarra.

A strong home contingent adds further depth, with Matthieu Pavon and Adrien Saddier leading a French line‑up that also includes Julien Guerrier, Antoine Rozner, Romain Langasque, Frédéric Lacroix, Victor Perez, Jeong weon Ko and Ugo Coussaud, as well as rising talents Martin Couvra, Oihan Guillamoundeguy and Tom Vaillant.

Dan Bradbury, who won the FedEx Open de France the last time it was staged at Le Golf National, is one of several past champions in the field, also including Kim (2025), Guido Migliozzi (2023), Fleetwood (2017) and Marcel Siem (2012).

A Qualifying spot for The 155th Open

The road to the 155th Open at St Andrews will begin with the FedEx Open de France at Le Golf National this week, as the R&A confirmed there will be one place awarded to the leading player, not already exempt, who makes the cut, for next year's fourth Major through The Open Qualifying Series.

Each year, international pathways are provided for players to qualify for golf’s original Championship through professional tour events played around the world, and the FedEx Open de France marks the first of 19 events in 15 countries across the PGA Tour, Korn Ferry Tour, DP World Tour, Asian Tour, KPGA Tour, Japan Golf Tour, Sunshine Tour and Challenger PGA Tour of Australasia.

In this week's field, already exempt players include Ludvig Aberg, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood and Viktor Hovland, among several others.  See a full list here.

Making an impact on and off the course

Birdies are always a welcome sight on any golfer’s scorecard, but this week many of those made will contribute towards a community tree-planting programme. 

The initiative, which continues title partner FedEx’s collaboration with the Arbor Day Foundation, will see ten trees planted for every birdie made at the par-three 16th throughout the four tournament rounds. 

This is in addition to a commitment for 500 trees to be planted this autumn on farmland Noisy-le-Roi, returning to the site of last year’s planting. All additional trees funded through tournament scoring will be allocated to support reforestation initiatives in French regions affected by wildfires. 

Diving will also take place in the man-made lakes at Le Golf National on Wednesday and Saturday to recover golf balls, which will be resold to help fund golf programmes for women following illness or hospitalisation. 

FFGreen, specialising in sustainable practices in golf, is the official charity, with funds being raised to support women who are ill in returning to golf. A €10,000 donation is also to be made to wildlife restoration projects. Following a summer of wildfires across parts of France, firefighters have been offered complimentary tickets to attend the tournament.

What a DP World Tour fortnight !!!!

If you missed the last fortnight on the DP World Tour, you missed two of the best golf events anywhere.

Shane Lowry's -23 win by a record 11 shots at the Amgen Irish Open in Doonbeg, with Trump who owns the amazing revamped links in attendance, and all of Ireland either jammed into the course or watching somewhere in the world was as veteran broadcaster Paul McGinley summed it up " I've never seen the likes of this !"

Then this past weekend at the legendary West course at Wentworth, the flagship event BMW PGA Championship headlined by Rory and 8 of the European Ryder Cup team, was another "I've never seen this" again moment

The Sunday shootout saw 20 players within three shots of the lead, it was an Agatha Christie "who dunnit" until the hero was finally revealed

After a tragic 72nd hole double bogey meltdown by Spaniard Manuel Elvira, American JJ Spaun, on a working holiday with his wife, snuck in "along the rail" in the words of commentator Ken Brown, with a 4 timely birdies in 5 holes to pip the likes of Rory and Adam Scott to take the coveted title back to California.

McIlroy now vying record tying 8th Race to Dubai title....All to play for..Latest Rankings

 DP World Tour : Race to Dubai Rankings

Rory McIlroy more than halved the deficit to Patrick Reed at the top of the Race to Dubai Rankings Delivered by DP World with a runner-up finish at the BMW PGA Championship.

The Northern Irishman was handed an unexpected opportunity in his pursuit of a record-equalling eighth Race to Dubai title on Friday when American Reed retired through a left wrist injury during the third round.

He capitalised on the chance it presented, closing out his week at Wentworth Club with a four-under-par 68 as he finished in a four-way tie for 2nd alongside fellow Major Championship winners Aaron Rai and Adam Scott, along with Spaniard Manuel Elvira.

Ahead of the Rolex Series event, McIlroy trailed Reed by 839.76 points but he has now closed the gap to 307.76.

The pair are next set to tee it up in the same event at the DP World India Championship next month, before when Reed is due to compete at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland subject to his injury recovery.

"I'm excited," said McIlroy. "I have three events until the end of my DP World Tour season. I'm not sure what Patrick's schedule looks like coming up, but I feel like I have enough opportunities.

"And I'm going back to-golf course in India that I played for the first time last year, so I'll know it a little bit better; and then going to Abu Dhabi and Dubai where I had a lot of success in my career. Excited for the opportunity, and it would be obviously amazing to match Monty's record."

LATEST IN RANKINGS

Rai, who won the US PGA Championship in May and was presented with the inaugural Rory McIlroy Award ahead of the BMW PGA Championship, climbed 4th from 7th in the season-long rankings, with Ryan Fox a spot further back after moving up by one following a tie for sixth at Wentworth's West Course.

Elvira, who suffered a heartbreaking double-bogey finish in his bid for a first professional title, vaulted up 50 places to 35th and seal a debut appearance at the DP World Tour Play-Offs, with Scott doing likewise as he too fell just short of what would have been victory on the 25th anniversary of his event debut.

The next biggest riser on the Rankings was Filippo Celli, who made his BMW PGA Championship debut one to remember as he held a share of the 54-hole lead before a birdie-birdie finish to his final round earned him a share of 6th.

The Italian is up to 80th, having started the week in 116th place, strengthening his chances of retaining his playing privileges on the Race to Dubai for next year and putting the DP World Tour Play-Offs in his sights.

Alejandro del Rey moved to 49th, up eight places from 57th, to enhance his chances of reaching the season-ending DP World Tour Championship for the first time.

Scotland's David Law moved inside the all-important top 100 which is required to earn a DP World Tour card for next season.

JJ Spaun outlasts the field to win BMW PGA Championship...Final Results

JJ Spaun birdied four of his last five holes to claim a dramatic maiden Rolex Series victory at the BMW PGA Championship.

The American entered the final day at Wentworth Club one shot off the lead but had slipped further behind and did not look to be in contention stood on the 14th tee as a host of fellow Major champions battled for the title.

A hat-trick of birdies changed all that, however, and when he also made a birdie on the last, he had set the target at -17 under with a 67.

It was not all over as Manuel Elvira eagled the 17th to join him at the summit but when the Spaniard double-bogeyed the last, Spaun had a second DP World Tour title following his victory at the 2025 U.S. Open.

Elvira signed for a 70 to finish in a share of second two shots back alongside Masters champions Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott and US PGA Championship winner Aaron Rai.

Spaun's victory makes him just the third American to win this title after Arnold Palmer and Billy Horschel and the first player to win it on debut since Byeong hun An in 2015.

"It means so much," he said. "You know, I've kind of blossomed into this player I never thought I could be, and to take my game across the world and more specifically here in England, a place that's dear to my family's heart, we vacation here quite a bit.

"The stars kind of aligned this week for me to come out on top and I'm just grateful to have the opportunity and play and play well and give myself a chance and came out with a W.

"I knew the whole day I had to stay patient because of the closing stretch at Wentworth because you could go eagle, eagle and you could also go bogey, bogey.

Spaun, who revealed he had used his omission from the Presidents Cup team as an inspiration this week, celebrated with wife Melody after the victory, and she had brought a surprise visitor in the form of a mask of UK broadcaster Jeremy Clarkson.

"We've grown fond of him, along with the English culture, we actually take holidays in December in the Cotswolds and we really enjoy his show," said Spaun. "I went to his pub, the Farmer's Dog, with the hopes to catch a glimpse of him but he wasn't around.

Overnight leader Elvira put his second at the 17th to nine feet and rolled in the eagle putt to join the lead and give Spaun an anxious wait.

But in search of a first professional win, Elvira made a mess of the 18th when found sand with his second, flew the green with his third up against the stands and took a drop which he chunked into the bunker in front of him, splashed out, missed the putt for a double bogey six, and with his head in his hands saw his dreams of winning dashed.

McIlroy carded a closing 68 to move within 308 points of Patrick Reed at the top of the Race to Dubai Rankings, with Scott also carding a 68 and Rai signing for a 66 all T2 with Elvira on -15

Major winners Matt Fitzpatrick and Ryan Fox finished three shots off the lead -14 alongside Joost Luiten and Filippo Celli.

The Rory Story today at Wentworth....

 Rory McIlroy is among a host of Major champions in the chasing pack eyeing a big Sunday finish at the BMW PGA Championship.

The Northern Irishman produced a birdie-eagle finish to his third-round 69 at Wentworth Club to make his presence felt on a high-calibre leaderboard as he bids to win the prestigious tournament for a second time - 12 years on from his first - and claim a record-equalling fifth Rolex Series title.

With surprise 54-hole co-leaders Filippo Celli and Manuel Elvira both awaiting an elusive DP World Tour title, career Grand Slam winner McIlroy is excited by the chance to chase the duo down as he bids to take a big step towards a record-equalling eighth Race to Dubai victory at the season end.

"I have a big opportunity tomorrow on both fronts," he said. "I'd love to win this tournament again. It's been a long time, 12 years.

"I have so many great memories of Wentworth in general. I came here for the first time as a 10-year-old to watch the World Match Play all the way back in the day.

"It was always at half-term. I always came with my mum and dad and watched this one.

"Fast forward, I've won this event. I've played a lot here and we now have a house on the estate as well. This place has a lot of history for me.

"Hopefully I have a good chance and give myself a real chance at it again."

The top 20 on the leaderboard are separated by just four shots, with JJ Spaun, Adam Scott, Ryan Fox, Aaron Rai, Matt Fitzpatrick along with McIlroy all boasting Major wins and firmly in the mix.

Spaun, who is making his debut in the $9million tournament, won the U.S. Open last year and has spoken of his desire to play a more global schedule going forward and he could become the third American winner after Arnold Palmer and Billy Horschel to win this title.

He mixed five birdies with one bogey to card a 68 on Saturday to get to -12, one ahead of McIlroy and one back of the leaders.

Established among the leading players in the world, Spaun is aware of the history attached to one of the DP World Tour's most prized titles.

"It would mean a lot," he said of the chance ahead of him. "I think winning outside of America would be really awesome to putt on my resumé and especially my family vacation here quite a bit, so we love coming over across the pond.

"To add a trophy from one of our favourite places in the world would be a really good treat."

Few are more experienced in the game than Scott, with the Australian this week making what is his 11th appearance at this event on the 25th anniversary of his debut.

On Friday, the 46-year-old described this event - along with THE Players Championship, the PGA Tour's flagship event, and his home open in Australia - as his top three outside of the Majors.

"It would be so special. I rate this tournament so highly," the 2013 Masters winner said. "I've enjoyed playing here for a lot of years now, and with strong connections to European golf, I would love to etch my name into the history here at Wentworth."

Fox, who won the Open Championship in July, won this title in 2023 and shot a 70 to get to -10, with this year's US PGA Championship winner Rai and fellow Englishman Fitzpatrick a shot further back after rounds of 72 and 67 respectively.

Italian, Spaniard lead in England at BMW PGA Championship...Sunday TEE TIMES

Filippo Celli and Manuel Elvira will share the lead heading into the final round of the BMW PGA Championship but the duo have a high-class leaderboard breathing down their necks at Wentworth Club.

On a day when when a host of players shared the lead, the playing partners both birdied the last to get to -13, and sit one ahead of Major champion JJ Spaun, Spaniard Alejandro del Rey and American Johannes Veerman -12.

Rory McIlroy finished birdie-eagle to get to -11 alongside fellow Masters champion Adam Scott, American Davis Bryant, Chilean Joaquin Niemann and Norway's Kristoffer Reitan.

Italian Celli and Spaniard Elvira carded rounds of 69 and 68 respectively and will go out together again on Sunday as they both look for a first DP World Tour win at the third Rolex Series event of the season.

Celli - the Silver Medallist at The 2022 Open Championship - is playing his second full season on Tour after coming through the Qualifying School in 2023 and regaining his card via the HotelPlanner Tour last year, the 26-year-old is 116th on the Race to Dubai Rankings.

"I can't wait, honestly, because it's going to be very good," he said. "I will try to be in the present, you know, and try to enjoy every single minute and see what happens."

He added: "I'm very happy because today it was very tough. It was windy, tricky out there. So I'm happy how I handled life's situation out there. Sometimes the wind changed a bit so it wasn't easy.

Elvira - brother of three-time DP World Tour winner Nacho - is playing his third season on Tour snce graduating from the HotelPlanner Tour in 2023 and has three top tens in 2026.

"I think I'm ready," he said of the chance to win one of the DP World Tour's most prestigious events. "I've been playing well the last few weeks. Obviously the results were not really coming my way but I just managed to stay patient this week and just have fun."

American Spaun carded a 68 with five birdies and a single bogey while McIlroy signed for a 69, Bryant and Niemann recorded rounds of 67 and Scott went round in 71.

There were 25 players within five shots of the lead including Major champions Ryan Fox, Aaron Rai and Matt Fitzpatrick.

A sensational Saturday at Wentworth for this version of the BMW PGA Championship sees 15 players within 3 shots of each other atop the leaderboard.

Perhaps the biggest of a myriad of storylines is a very patient Rory McIlroy, who just had putt after putt slip by, however he made birdies on 3 of the par 5's and ended with a shot of the year candidate a soaring 230 yard 4 iron, drawn in perfectly, landing just 2 feet for the eagle 3. 

His 69 67 69 -11 is in a group of 5, T6, two shots off the leaders including Adam Scott, who will be leading the International team at Medinah in the Presidents Cup next week.

On Friday, Ryan Gerard carded a brilliant bogey-free round of 65 to take a two-shot lead into the weekend at the BMW PGA Championship.

The world traveller has steadily worked his way up the owgr from #44 to begin this season to #21, a steady if unspectacular player, who has no compunction about closing a tournament

Ryan Gerard carded a brilliant bogey-free round of 65 to take a two-shot lead into the weekend at the BMW PGA Championship.

The American (who once flew from California to Mauritius to finish 2nd to South African Jayden Schaper), and get enough points to qualify for the Masters, had put himself in the mix with an opening 67 and remained in touch with the leaders as he picked up four birdies in 13 holes on Friday at Wentworth Club.

He was one shot off the lead as he entered the West Course's famous pair of par-five finishers but went eagle-birdie to get to -12 and leap ahead of nearest challengers Filippo Celli and Adam Scott at -10

US PGA Championship winner Aaron Rai was then at -9 alongside Spaniard Manuel Elvira, with Major champions Rory McIlroy, Ryan Fox and JJ Spaun a further shot back -8 with Ross Fisher and Elvira's brother Nacho for company.

Gerard earned DP World Tour status by winning last season's Barracuda Championship and finished in a tie for 38th in his debut at this Rolex Series event last season.

He has finished a runner-up four times since, including three events in a row as 2025 turned into 2026, and arrived in England at a career-high 21st on the Official World Golf Ranking as he looks to maintain momentum in a truly global schedule.

"I just love playing golf," he said. "The DP World Tour is a great tour and we're lucky to have fantastic events like this one that I can come play in what would technically be the off-season on the PGA Tour.

"There's a lot of really awesome places outside of the United States that we don't get to go to very often. To be lucky enough to come over here to Wentworth and also go to France next week, other events on the schedule, it's really, really cool that I have that opportunity, and we're going to take advantage of it."

On his 65, he added: "I don't know if I was feeling an eagle-birdie finish but I stayed patient all day.

"You know when you get to the last couple of holes at Wentworth here, they are gettable. There's also trouble lurking, so you have to be careful. Just felt like we were putting the ball in the right spots all day. Good things happen when you stick to the plan and execute shots."

SUMMARY

Manuel Elvira turned in 34 with three birdies and two bogeys but made five gains on the back nine to fly up the leaderboard with a 66 of his own, while home hero Rai, recorded a birdie-birdie finish in a 69.

McIlroy and Fox were playing alongside Rai in a group comprised of three reigning Major champions and they both matched their playing partner's birdie-birdie finish as they carded rounds of 67 and 68 respectively.

Spaun signed for a 66, Fisher rolled back the years with a 67 and Nacho Elvira registered a 69 to sit a shot ahead of Matt Wallace.

There were then 11 players at -6 including defending champion Alex Noren, Ryder Cup star Sepp Straka and recent winner Joe Dean.

Watching the morning wave teeing off in sweaters/ hoodies on a very pleasant morning for a round of golf at leafy Wentworth, just 17k from Heathrow airport in London.

Wentworth GC is extremely private, old properties and new renovations like Rory's, now valued at $18,000,000 with an indoor pool /hot tub and massive heated outdoor pool, 6 bedrooms, his garden gate backs right onto a tee box on a Wentworth golf course.

Sir Elton John, Sir Cliff Richard, Sarah Ferguson, John Terry (Chelsea/ England), Justin Rose, The Sultan of Brunei (richest worth 30 billion) are some of his neighbours on the Estate.
