Rod Spittle, who you'll remember was 5th last fall at Q school to keep his card took full advantage of his exempt status by making birdies on five of his first seven holes to shoot a 66 and move into a tie for the lead with Bart Bryant who finished with an albatross for  a -3 69, Paul Goydos 69, and Tom Pernice Jr.,69.


My pick, Bernhard Langer shot 70 -7 total and he is T5 with Olin Browne (67), Guy Boros (68) and Mark Brooks (69). Twelve players are within three shots of the lead.
