The early wave is well under way on this Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass and if ever the course was there for the taking, it's this morning. Mostly sunny, very light breeze, the course is very green and soft and scoring is low already. Expect lot's of 68's and surely a couple of 63's or so.
In looking at the pin placements it is worth noting the officials have set the pins on 14 of 18 holes near the edges of the greens, in many cases just 5 yards from water.
Out in early pairings : Dustin Johnson -2, Sergio Garcia -2 and Jon Rahm -2. Phil Mickelson E, Rory McIlroy -2 and Matt Kuchar-1
Billy Horshel a Florida native from Jacksonville, is near the lead at -4, playing the back nine first, while South Korean star Ben An leads at -5 through 13*
Tiger is out late with Webb Simpson and Patrick Reed at 1.27pm. Rickie Fowler Brooks Koepka and Jordan Spieth are at 1.59.
Corey Connors is E thru 12* while Adam Hadwin has 2 bogey's and a double +3 early in his round.
