After a terrific, tense morning in the round of 16, this afternoons 4 quarter final matches are set, and in fact have just begun at this WGC Dell Technologies Match Play. Follow the live scoring on my link above.
In the feature match Tiger edged an out of sorts Rory McIlroy 2&1. Tiger, dressed all in grey with a white hat and shoes was 3up on the front nine as Rory couldn't make a putt to save himself, however the little Irishman began his fight back on the 13th and was 1 down with Tiger in trouble at the 16th and Rory 400 yards off the tee right in the middle of the fairway. He then proceeded to hit his 9 iron fat to an awkward lie between the bunkers, chipped it over the green up against some railways ties, took an unplayable back to where he chipped from, dumped his 5th into another bunker, made 7 to put Tiger dormie 2.
Such is match play !!!
Other notable moments. Lucas Bjerregaard putted his brains out to beat Henrik Stenson 3&2 and was full value. Kevin Kisner just steamrolled Haotong Li 6&5, he was 4 up after 5 holes. Kevin Na played some marvellous, gutsy iron shots to edge Justin Rose 2up.
Francesco Molinari remains undefeated in 9 straight matches including the Ryder Cup as he handily beat his pal Paul Casey 5&4
Molinari and Kisner are playing the best of the bunch, Na has caught lightning in a bottle.
Importantly the bad weather has set in, strong gusty wind and rain, so watch out for Sergio and Louis Oosthuizen the two notoriously good wind players.
