PGA Tour Valspar Championship leaderboard https://www.pgatour.com/competition/2019/valspar-championship/leaderboard.html
Nick Taylor T23 71,70 -1, Mac Hughes T34 70,72 E, and Roger Sloan T34 70,72 E, have all made the cut for this weekend at the Valspar Championship on a very tough Copperhead course at the Innisbrook Resort, just outside Tampa, Florida.
The leaders at 70 66 -6 are the defending champion Paul Casey who has been 2nd and 3rd already this year, and American Austin Cook 68 67 -6.
Casey spent some time recently with his long time coach/ TV analyst, Peter Kostis who told him he has to be more aggressive both mentally and physically when it comes to closing out tournaments when he's leading going into Sunday.
The Copperhead course with it's famed snakepit finish is playing tough as always with the winning score traditionally being around 10-12 shots under par over 4 rounds, one of the lowest outside of the majors on tour. Par is a good score, bogey's are expected while birdies are at a premium, and remember conditions this week have been ideal.
As a result, besides 5 of our Canadians, lot's of big names missed the cut at +1. Jason Day, Gary Woodland (who'd made 22 straight), Keegan Bradley, Webb Simpson and Patrick Reed are among many who have headed elsewhere as of last night.
Nice to see good guy Luke Donald back playing well after a year off recovering from back surgery, he's at -5 and with scoring so low the leaderboard is jammed with notables, DJ at -4, Jon Rahm -3, Jim Furyk and Bubba Watson are at -2.
