It's doubtful that Tiger will reel off 6 birdies in his first 7 holes again today on his way to -5 65, -12 and a 3 shot lead yesterday, however he may not need to and to be honest even if he shoots 73 and finishes 6th, his return to competitive golf will be the story of the year one way or another.
This conveluted points system that leaves most fans cold has Justin Rose who is 2nd at -9 the favourite to win (63%) the Fed Ex Cup but today all anyone will be tuning in to see will be " will Tiger win?" He'll be paired with Rory McIlroy who shot -4 66 T2 -9.
"Form is fleeting, class is forever" is the old addage and it certainly applies to this great champion as he continues to pursue his 80th career win with poise, grace, dignity and even humility after 4 back surgeries and several knee operations.
Speaking of the old addage I'll bet USA Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk is hoping it holds true for nearly half of his team. Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed, Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau and Bubba Watson are all mired at the bottom of the field with the Ryder Cup trip to Paris ready to begin tonight !
