PGA Tour Championship FedExCup
While the DP World Tour is just beginning it's Back 9, the series running up to the playoffs/ Tour Championship in November, the PGA Tour wraps up their regular season this week in Atlanta at the venerable East Lake GC.
The top 30 based on the season long FedEx Standings all share the $100,000,000 bonus fund based on their finish #1-30.
Then the field all begins at level par so anyone of the 30 can win.
Rory McIlroy playing his the straight, buoyed by his 3rd place finish at the Buick will vy to become the 1st player to win the FedEx Cup 4 times.
Scott Scheffler who is suffering from Hands, Foot and Mouth disease begins at #1 for the 5th year, and as such he is awarded a staggering $23,000,000 before this event even tees it up.
* Woodland, Cantlay and MacIntyre all played there way in after last week's performance.
* Fowler, Kitayama and Cauley played their way out..
* Tommy Fleetwood is the defending champion.
* Wyndham Clark is the hottest player in the field right now, up to #3.
* Ryan Fox returned home to a heroes welcome in New Zealand after his thrilling win at the Open Championship, and as luck would have it he has qualified right on #30.
* There are no Canadians in the field this year.
* FYI I am asked why the PGA Tour finishes so early. The NFL 2026 gets underway with a rare Wed September 9, game Seattle hosting New England.
Huge numbers tune in weekly on NBC, CBS and Fox networks, the PGA Tour does not want it's sponsors competing with that TV coverage.
