Without any bad weather to seperate the men from the boys, the Saturday leaderboard is tightly bunched on this tricky East Lake GC, with the rough so deep and lush, whoever drives the ball be best will play a big part in the Sunday winner.
American, Ryan Gerard 65 65 -10 is not one of the elite, and while $10,000,000 would mean more to him than others, the 5 year exemption, and a captain's pick for the Presidents Cup team are foremost in his mind.
Viktor Hovland 64 66 -10 has been putting superbly, his strong iron play has placed the ball well on these softish green.
They lead Collin Morikawa and Chris Gotterup T3 both with 64 67 -9
Honorable mention to Cameron Young who Thursday was dead last, Friday playing by himself after JJ Spaun retired, he was the opposite -8 62 T5.
Remember in 2022, as I mentioned yesterday Rory, went 63 66 on the weekend to pass the pack and beat Scheffler and Im by a stroke to win his 3rd PGA Tour Championship, so someone could do that this weekend.
There are no Canadians in the field this year.
