The 54 hole story from Genesis Invitational...Sunday TEE TIMES

PGA Tour : Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines.. Tee Times

Round 3 is in the books after an unexpected strong breeze blew up in the afternoon which factored into a roller coaster day of scoring.

Scottie Scheffler was so good last year, he's become expected to win almost every time he shows up. This year has been a bit sluggish by his standards early on, he was wild at times off the tee on Friday, but saved himself with some brilliant scrambling for a 67.

Saturday he couldn't save himself, shooting his highest score in 3 years, +4 76.  However Rory didn't take advantage, shooting a +2 74 of his own.

Still both are T8 at -3 and to the delight of the sponsors, TV and fans of the game, will be paired together later today. See my link above for complete tee times

At the top, amateur phenom out of Stanford University who has struggled as a pro with no wins in 283 starts, American Patrick Rodgers 69 71 68 -8 has a slim lead over Denny McCarthy 68 70 71 -7. Swedish star Ludvig Aberg fills the frame at #3 74 66 70 -6 aided by an ace at the par 3, 3rd.

Four very capable players are clustered at -4, Finau, Cantlay, Fleetwood and Davis Thompson who slipped out of the lead with 76.

Five more at at -3 including Rory and Scheffler and the improved Justin Thomas.

WEATHER : There is no precipitation in the forecast and what breeze there is at 5kph in the morning is only scheduled to increase to 11kph in the afternoon, so it look like Torrey Pines, south, will rely on her reputation as a beast, aided by wherever the PGA Tour officials decide to place the pins.

Canadians   (tee times est)

Nick Taylor T13 74 71 69 -2   (1.10 paired with Hideki Matsuyama, defending champion)

Corey Conners T42  72 74 73 +3   (10.40 with Russell Henley)

Mac Hughes T47  74 73 74 +5   (10.03 with Jason Day)

Taylor Pendrith T53  74 74 75 +7  (9.45 with Mattieu Pavon)

Adam Hadwin MC  83 71

Remember these guys play this game for trophies and of course for money. Many have so much like Rory and Scottie that as sick as it sounds don't need any of the $20,000,000 up for all the grabs as well as 700 FedEx Cup points.

The winner this week gets $4,000,000, 2nd gets $2,000,000, 3rd gets $1,400,000 and 4th a cool $1,000,000.

Last place is rewarded with $44,000 and heck even the guys who missed the cut get paid with 70th place getting $32,000 !!
