PGA Tour : Valspar Championship Results
If it wasn't going to be one of the Canadians, the winner couldn't have been a nicer guy as 35 year old journeyman Peter Malnati made enough birdies coming down the stretch for his first win since 2015, then with son in arms, broke down and cried for joy through his greenside interview.
Malnati 66 71 68 67 -12 was two shots ahead of Cam Young who made a crucial bogey at the last, T2 69 69 68 68 -10 his 7th runner up position, then 3 shots clear of playing partner Mac Hughes T3 68 68 69 70 -9 along with rookie Chandler Phillips 68 68 70 69 -9. each won $495,600
Worth over $1,500,000 Malnati ranked #184 and his family are secure for 2 years at least, will play for the first time in 10 years at Augusta and in upcoming limited field signature events.
