Manassero with narrow lead after 54 holes, Cockerill moves up...Full scoreboard / tee times

DP World Tour : Jonsson Workwear Open Leaderboard Tee Times

In 2009 at Augusta, Mike Weir told us that he played a practice round with then 16 year Italian sensation Matteo Manassero and said " for someone so young he has it all, very impressive, mature beyond his years."

Matteo Manassero surges into South Africa lead

Manassero went on to have a tremendous professional start on the European Tour beginning at 17 he went on to have 4 wins his first in 2010 when he was the youngest ever at 17 1/2, his 4th the glittering BMW PGA Championship in 2013, before losing his game, his confidence and his card.

Five years on golf's minor league tours the boy wonder was growing up until he won in 2020 on the Alps Tour and his self belief started to return.

This week in South Africa at this co-sanctioned Jonsson Workwear he is 68 61 67 -20 atop the leaderboard at -20 but only just.. with 7 players within 4 shots heading into Sunday.

Canadian Aaron Cockerill made the cut at -5 and took advantage of that with his week's best -4 68 (5 birdies, 1 bogey) to move up the leaderboard by 14 spots to T40 -9
