Scheffler pockets $8.5m in two weeks.. the Players final results

PGA Tour : The Players Results

I have recently posted " who needs LIV" chronicling the many changes to the PGA Tour including a $1.5 billion investment from the Strategic Sport Group that has removed the need for the Saudi PIF, although those discussions are still ongoing.

Scottie Scheffler goes back-to-back at The Players Championship Article Image 0

They may need more by the time Scottie Scheffler is done at the Masters which he won in 2022.

In the last fortnight Scheffler, the quiet young Christian from Texas, whose wife Meredith is about to deliver what will be a very wealthy little boy or girl, has pocketed $8,600,000 in Florida, the tax friendly state boasting no state income tax.

This week a mere $4,400,000 and 750 points, his career total now $53,500,000

He has made $9,000,000 off the Players alone in 2 years. I'm pretty sure the rank and file would be quite happy if he would take his family on a prolonged holiday !

However if you watch his post game presser, (keeping in mind that millions of Canadians line up at the Lotto 649 booth every Saturday where our chances are 13million - 1) he is so nonchalant that he has just won the lottery, not once, but twice in two weeks, it is something that we mortals cannot understand.

His -8 64 -20 was a thing of beauty, he made the shots, he made the putts and he did have God on his side, or at least Lady Luck.

Consider the kick start to his winning round, the short 396yd par 4 4th. After 3 opening pars he was left with an approach of 100 yards or so, which he stiffed, better still went in for the eagle 2.

Lady Luck ? 144 players began play on Thursday, many hit a similar drive, many hit a similar wedge, many made birdies. So why did Scottie's go in, on this final day, on this crucial round, not because his shot was any better, but because most all winners need a little Lady Luck or in the Scheffler family's Christian belief " it was in God's hands"

Schauffele, Clark and Harman were all T2 at -19 ($1,891,666) and all had their chances, for example Xander missed a 7 footer on 17, Cark's on the 72nd lipped out after circling the hole, were amongst others that figured in Scheffler's win.

FYI last place went to Keith Mitchell at +4  $49,750

Canadians

Corey Conners T13 -11 $489,539

Mac Hughes T26 - $186,250

Nick Taylor T26 $186,250 ( he was T2 after 2 rounds)

Next

Valspar Championship March 21-24

Texas Children Houston Open March 28-31

Valero Texas Open April 4-7

Masters April 11- 14
