Scheffler / Lowry lead crowded field at windy AP Invitational... Sunday leaderboard / TEE TIMES

PGA Tour : AP Invitational Leaderboard  Tee Times

Saturday turned out the way I expected in the wind, Bay Hill firm, greens glassy and the rough thick all adds up to a day of patience, talent and Lady Luck.

The leaders were at -7 when the round began, -9 when the Florida sun set with Shane Lowry back in the final pairing for the 2nd week in a row, along with Scottie Scheffler, still world #1 and the winner here in 2022.

However there are 8 players within 4 shots including Rory who was done and dusted after bogeys at 8 and 9 got his dander up and he unleashed a driving display rarely seen on any course, making every putt storming home in 30 for a -4 68

Stringbean Will Zalatoris with a long putter built just like him lead by 5 shots at the 13th, but doubles and 15 and 18 soon spoiled that.

Such is Bay Hill in this windy weather, water everywhere, a mistake is usually duly punished, concentration and execution of the utmost priority.

Weather

Another mainly sunny day 77*f (25*C) with  the wind SE 13mph (21kph) 20% chance of a shower.

Canadians

Corey Conners T11 70 71 71 -4  (Birdies early always settle him, then it could be his day)

Nick Taylor T20  69 71 74 -2

Mac Hughes T39  75 71 71 +1

Adam Hadwin  T53  69 75 76  +4

68 was the best any of these top 69 players could muster, rather anything on or around par is  now in the top eight, all in with a chance, all will be well paid with $4,000,000 going to the man in the red cardigan.

I expect the winner to make the least mistakes and takes his chances where he can, and I say if Rory throws caution to the wind like he did on that memorable Saturday back nine it will be either win or bust !!
