Snedeker blows lead, Kevin Tway wins Safeway Open in a playoff

PGA Tour Safeway Open final leaderboard https://www.pgatour.com/competition/2019/safeway-open/leaderboard.html

After Tyrrell Hatton's implosion on Sunday at the Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews it was Brandt Snedeker's turn 10,000 miles away at the Safeway Open in California.

Snedeker was 5 shots in front with 11 to play after leading from the get go on Thursday, made bogey on 10,11 and 12, then again at 17 and shot his worst round of the week (66 65 69), a 74 to fall into a playoff with Kevin Tway (71), and Ryan Moore (67) which Tway won with a birdie on the 3rd extra trip down the 18th.

It is the first PGA Tour win for the 30 year old son of Bob Tway who won 8 times including our Canadian Open in Hamilton in 2003 when Kevin was just 15.

As I mentioned yesterday 6 Canadians made the cut, but because it was so big, David Hearn and Ben Silverman were paid but were eliminated in a second cut after Saturday's round, (MDF)

Mac Hughes T33 -6, Adam Svensson T41 -5, Nick Taylor T53 -3 and Roger Sloan T60 -2.
