Spieth, Stenson, Fowler rounding into Masters form at Houston Open

PGA Tour Houston Open leaderboard https://www.pgatour.com/competition/2018/houston-open/leaderboard.html

Young Beau Hossler with scores 65 68 sits in the lead at -11 as this last weekend gets under way before the chosen few fly across the country from this Houston Open to Atlanta, then up to Augusta for the Masters.

Hossler who is coached by legendary Jim Flick has played beautifully, and he will need to continue this form if he wants to hold off the jam packed leaderboard behind him which includes some of the big boys rounding into Masters form. He is 23, ranked #214 from California, and had 2 top 10's during the wrap around part of this season.

Rickie Fowler 66 68 is at -10 and was in the lead until he found the water at the 18th. Jordan Spieth at home in Texas is putting like the Spieth that dominated the tour in 2015, 68 67 -9, Henrik Stenson 68 68 -8, Justin Rose 69 68 -7 will all be in your Masters pool sheets.

How about Ian Poulter, bidding to win to get to Augusta. After being told he was in last week, then cruelly advised he wasn't at #51, he opened on Thursday with 73, but bounced back yesterday with the low round of the day -8 64 to sit at -7.

Ben Silverman made the cut on the number, 73 68 -3. Nick Taylor, Mac Hughes and Corey Connors have gone home for Easter.

It will be another sunny, hot day in Houston with a little breeze picking up as the day goes on. With so many players in contention, and no bad weather to thin them out it promises to be a cavalry charge to the finish line come Sunday afternoon.
