DP World Tour : Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship
I must say the YAS Links Abu Dhabi looks as pristine as any course you could play on, as legendary European Tour commentator Sam Torrance said "the fairways are like carpets"
They look so green, its like nobody has ever played on them, which is not far from the truth in Abu Dhabi, where the locals do not or cannot play. Most golf other than the DP World Tour played on Middle East courses is corporate outings or wealthy ex pats working in the area.
Aaron Cockerill returned early this morning to finish 3 holes left over from Thursday. He birdied #7, par on 8 but made bogey 5 on 9 to finish +2 74.
This morning needing something like 68 he started brightly after he birdied 2 of his first 5 holes, with a bogey 5 at #3.
All in all he made 13 pars, 3 birdies with 2 bogey's a steady round -1 71 but the cut is projected at -2 with the clubhouse lead Frankie Molinari 67 67 -10 and Italian Guido Migliozzi 65 69 -10.
Cockerill began the day DP World Tour ranked #30, and is projected to drop to #47.
The weather today in Abu Dhabi was flat calm early, with a little breeze getting up as the desert day goes on with the late wave on course as I write...
