Oosthuizen goes from sick bay to lead Nedbank Golf Challenge with 63...

I'm not sure exactly why, perhaps it's the distraction, but I can't tell you how many times golfers have shot their best rounds when they are under the weather. Just recently Xander Schauffele pushed Rory all the way to the wire at the WGC HSBC championship while he was suffering from a bad case of the flu.

Early this morning in Sun City. Louis Oosthuizen was in the hospital passing kidney stones at 3am never thinking he'd be able to tee it up hours later. He had withdrawn from the Wednesday pro-am.

After some medication he felt well enough to try and play, and went out and shot a magnificent bogey free -9 63 to lead this Nedbank Golf Challenge by 3 shots, to the delight of his fans.

Louis has won 9 times on the European Tour, 5 of them in South Africa, but never this "African Major" although he has been in the top ten, 3 times in  his last 4 starts.

" I'm pretty chuffed with this round considering I wasn't sure I could play in the hospital at 3am. Walking fast seemed to aggravate things so I just slowed everything down"

Thomas Detry from Belgium is next at -6. Ernie Els and 3 time winner and defending champion Lee Westwood are at -4 after a tricky day with the swirling winds on the Gary Player GC laid out on the floor of a extinct volcano.
