" I really wanted to get back to par by the ninth hole, that was the difference for me"
Those words from Brooke Henderson moments after signing her card for a terrific -5 67, made even more impressive by her recovery from an unexpected double bogey 7 on her opening hole. Often that will lead to a round that can put you out of contention, however she re grouped, and made birdies at the 4th and 6th to get out in E 36, then her putter got hot, leading to 5 birdies in 6 holes from the 12th, home in 31, and her -9 total has her T3 with Nelly Korda, and they are teeing off together at 11.35am this morning.
Update: Alena Sharp T24 71 71 -2 has 2 birdies so far today, now -4.

The leader Sei Young Kim 65 67 -11 is follwed by German star Caroline Masson 68 66 -10.
There are 18 players within 6 shots going into this weekend and watch for defending champion Lexi Thompson and Nelly's older sister Jessica at -7.
Remember this is a winner takes all under the new format, so the reward of $1.5m is massive as is the Race to CME Globe title, before the women head off for the winter.
