Kuchar returns to scene of his "caddy scandal", Mayakoba Golf Classic.. 7 Canucks in the field.. tee times

Many won't remember any of Matt Kuchar's scores in winning this Mayakoba Golf Classic at this time last year, but they sure will remember how he was a cheapskate with his local caddie David Ortiz.

Kuchar won $1.3 million and paid his fill in caddie $5,000, after originally agreeing to pay him $4,000 whether he made the cut or not. Ortiz says he added "if you win 10% for me right?" to which Kuhar said "of course"

When the news came out that Ortiz did nor get his 10% ($130,000) Kuchar compounded his situation saying "$5000 is a big payday for a guy making $200 a day" which Ortiz thought was racial, unacceptable.

Finally bowing to public pressure, Kuchar apologized, saying he was hard headed and stubborn, and paid Ortiz $50,000, less than 5%.

Ortiz says he bought a used BMW and has been requested a lot more to caddy at the El Camaleon GC, the venue for this weeks event, where Kuchar defends his title.

There are 7 Canadians in the field, Ben Silverman who Monday qualified, Nick Taylor, Roger Sloan, Mac Hughes, David Hearn, Graham Delaet and Michael Gligic.
