Where they are golfing this week..May 5-8

The Champions Tour play their first major of the year in Birmingham Alabama. It is the 2nd pro event in a row in that storm ravaged state and we have Rod Spittle in the field. The PGA is at Quail Hollow, which has the toughest finishing 3 holes on tour and greens that are rated most difficult (outside the majors), still the guys love it's traditional style and Rory won here with that 62 Sunday last year.

It was nice to hear from John Daly this morning who is now following me here. Cheers big John !!

Wayne Grady, the 1990 winner, received a sponsor exemption. … In 1990, Shoal Creek's all-white membership and remarks club founder Hall Thompson made that the club wouldn't be pressured into accepting black members sparked a controversy. Thompson died in October. The club now has black members, including former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice. If memory serves me right Lee Trevino who won the PGA there in 1984 refused to use the clubhouse, changing his shoes at his car, his caddy Herman is black.. — . …Fred Couples was second in the 1990 PGA. … The tour is off the next two weeks.
