Donald calls it "one of the best rounds I've played"

"That was probably one of the best rounds I've ever played to be honest".

Luke Donald has just completed his round of -7 64 in a wet and windy morning on the west course at Wentworth in the BMW PGA Championship and he is currently leading in the clubhouse by 2 shots.

Matteo Manassero and Johan Edfors are both in at -5 66. Ian Poulter is at -3 playing the 12th..

"It was tough conditions out there - the wind was swirling, there was some rain showers, and this isn't an easy course in the best of conditions. So to pretty much have total control of the golf ball today doesn't happen very often in golf but that's how I felt today. I was just seeing the shots and I was able to hit them. So it was very, very satisfactory today - very, very pleasing.

Monty was out in 30 but had 3 bogey's in his last 4 holes to turn a great round into just a good one. He is by the way, the heavy Monty these days, very heavy...

Wentworth has always been one of my favourite courses, especially with the 5,5 finish which always provided a possible 3,3 finish, but since Ernie has changed the course, only the really long hitters are even taking a chance of getting home in 2 which much like the Masters has taken some of the excitement out of the finish.
He also had all the bunkers dug up and re-designed and re configured all 18 greens !!

The morning flight has had the best of the conditions, the lates will have the course 2 or even 3 shots tougher.
