Talbot fails in bid to get Senior European Tour card

Daniel Talbot of St. Basile-Le-Grand, Quebec shot a 76 today to finish in a group at 292, well off the pace of American Tim Thelen who's magnificent 65 gave him  the winning 275 score. He and 5 others will have full status on the European Senior tour in 2011. They are :

275 T Thelen (USA) 67 71 72 65,
280 P Errity (am) (Irl) 69 71 74 66, P Dahlberg (Swe) 67 72 73 68
282 F Mann (Sco) 72 71 70 69, A Fernandez (Chi) 71 72 69 70, M Moreno (Esp) 70 70 72 70

Thelen  reached the turn at Pestana Golf Resort in Portugal  in just 29 strokes to put an insurmountable lead between himself and the Irish amateur Pat Errity.

10 others will receive conditional status..

Talbot couldn't match the terrific 71 he posted in stiff winds on Wednesday. Here is his group.
292 N Mitchell (Eng) 74 70 75 73, M Lord (Eng) 72 73 75 72, M Kierstenson (Eng) 71 74 76 71, D Narveson (USA) 73 72 73 74, D Talbot (Can) 73 72 71 76

In an earlier article Graham Gunn now teaching in Ottawa told me he decided not to spend the money required to attend this Q school this year and he will continue to play when invited on his 'conditional' status.

Thanks to Steve Todd of the European Tour's media office for keeping me up to date this week
