So far they can't catch Molinari... Cook leads in San Fran

With a leaderboard that looks like Monty's Ryder Cup squad, Francesco Molinari continues to lead, adding a 67 to this weeks resume to stand at -14, 202.

I was up most of the night watching and all kinds of story lines came and went but at the end of the day Lee Westwood who also shot 67 goes into the final round a shot back at 203, followed by steady Eddie Luke Donald (68)-10 206 and Ross Fisher-8 208 (69 with a bunch of missed chances)

Molinari is driving it fairly well with 11/14 fairways hit and he only used 25 putts but his scrambling ability around the greens this week has kept him in front. 17 of 20 chances he has converted, today 5/6...

Westwood hits it 25 yards past the Italian and he had no bogey's and 5 birdies, steady as ever, but did use 28 putts missing a least 3 makeable birdies

It looks like a 2 horse race, unless Donald can muster a 66 or better.

Ernie is T4, and he must be commended after going bogey on 5, then double on 6 when he hit it into the aqua on that par 3, out in 38, his 33 back in was great, but at -8 he is 6 shots back.

Paddy had the shot of the day, perhaps of the year when he made an albatross on the par 5 14th with a huge Fairway metal, to go from -5 to -8 but then he gave it back with bogey's on 16 and 18 to finish at -6 .

You have to root for Jaco Van Zyl who is hanging in there At -7. He used up 34 putts, missed a whack of birdies, but is heading for his biggest payday although he is not going to win.. He almost qualified for this event the last 2 years but they kept changing the qualifying criteria for the Sunshine Tour.. His 3rd place finish there got him in finally and he has a brand new baby to boot !!

Tiger is grinding  T17 after a 73 he is at -3. He has only hit half of his fairways 7/14 missed 3 putts inside 6', 29 in all and has only converted 3 /7 scrambling opportunities including one simple chip he just hit fat right into the bunker he was trying to go over. Yet somehow he is still inside the top 20 although not a threat..

Mickelson will not successfully defend, he blew up with a 76 and is +4 216.. Out and in with 38's, 6 bogey's only 6 fairways hit, 31 putts and woeful scrambling 3/8 !!  Enjoy the Chow Mien..

As for the Race to Dubai ... Kaymer is T23 at -1 and Graeme McDowell is T44 at +2, so Kaymer may pad his lead a little as it stands

CHAMPIONS TOUR
Charles Schwab Cup @ Harding Park in San Francisco

A pretty tight leaderboard as you can see with Cook leading, trying to defend.. Looks like Langer will win the Schwab race and the million dollar bonus unless Freddie goes nuts today and Sunday and wins and Langer blows up.
