I just finished watching most of this from Hong Kong on the Golf Channel and there wasn't the same fireworks as yesterday, it was a calm, grey day at the UBS Hong Kong Open, but enjoyable none the less.
Ian Poulter, dressed modestly in pink and grey, made birdie at 17 and 18 to grab a 2 shot lead over guess who, Graeme McDowell going into the final round. He shot a -6 64 to sit at -19 while McDowell who really got going with an eagle at 10 shot a -7 63 -17 total..
Another Englishman, the blond haired Simon Dyson fired a-5 65 -16 total to be 3rd, 1 shot ahead of Rory McIlroy (66) and Anthony Kang the Korean American (67) both at -15.
I see Rory has got the grey streaks going in his hair these days, he kind of looks like a younger Hale Irwin with the new 'do'..
By the way Poulter got out of his courtesy car yesterday and told his caddie " I feel like I am going to go 10 under today (60) and his caddy said " if we are going that low, better make it a 59 "
He of course narrowly missed the 59 !!
Remember there is a lot at stake here tomorrow with only the top 60 on the money list going forward to the UAE for next weeks season finale in Dubai where they will play for $7.5 million and of course the $10 million dollar Race to Dubai bonus prize fund..
The European tour has 3 major winners and a win at the Ryder Cup to celebrate next week as well as the world's #1. It is a reflection of the strength of this tour and as such one of the reasons I keep enthusing and writing about it.
