Appleby wins in Australia, weather delay in Singapore, Thatcher bids for card

Stuart Appleby came from behind to catch and pass Adam Bland with a birdie, birdie finish to tie the course record and win the JBWere Australian Masters this morning in Melbourne.. He made crucial putts all day but particularly on the back nine to post a -6 65 274 total, a shot ahead of Bland who slipped to 73...

Tiger put on a grandstand birdie,eagle finish 65, 277 good for 4th..

It was a little strange in his victory speech to hear Appleby thank the ranking official from Victoria for helping raise the money to bring "Tiger and a few others" to Melbourne   " hard earned money well spent" I think were the exact words..

While appearance money for international star players is the way of the world except for the PGA tour, it is rarely mentioned publicly.

Tiger who was paid between $2-3m US to show up said he'd love to come back for a third successive year , and "bring his American Presidents Cup teammates with him".

The Presidents Cup is slated at the Royal Melbourne GC at this time next year.
