Alena stays in contention with 73 .Saturday at Royal Troon.. live scoring

AIG Women's Open. Saturday tee times, live scoring https://www.lpga.com/tournaments/aigwomensopen/leaderboard

Round 3 is in the books at Royal Troon, the wind remained from SW but not as severe, the sun was shining and this has been the best day so far for scoring.

Brooke Henderson missed the cut by a shot at +10.

Alena Sharp 71 74 played with American, Megan Khang 75 70 at 1.27 local or 8.27 est, both started  at +3, just 4 shots behind the only woman under par when play began, Sweden's Dani Holmqvist 70 71 -1

For both players, the day became one of steady pars, in fact Megan made 17 of them, with just one bogey at 15. Her +1 72 has her at +4 going into Sunday.

Alena made bogey at the 2nd, got it back with birdie at the 4th and went out with Megan in E 36. It was all pars on the back nine for Alena except for a bogey at 11, then the other at 15 for +2 37 =73 and a +5 total.

There were birdies available today, the lowest was by veteran Aussie Katherine Kirk -4 67, and there were hat full of 68's 69's and 70's,  however the leader going into Sunday is unheralded German, Sophia Popov from the Symetra Tour who started the day E (70 72) then posted a career round -4 67 with a driver off the deck eagle 3 and 2 birdies to lead the pack by 3 clear shots.

Minjee Lee and Jasmine Suwannapura (Thailand) are T2 at -1

So a great week so far for Alena Sharp, she has been very solid, remember at the beginning of the week we agreed par was a good score. I'm sure she'd have liked a few birdies to drop, but so would many more below her in the field.

It might suit Alena if the wind would howl again on Sunday where she has excelled, however it will shift to NW bringing the temperature down, and will be light. That will allow all of the field to score their ball well, so expect to see many more scores in the 60's on Sunday.

Remember on Thursday in a gale she played the back nine in 32 shots. She may have to do that again !
