Forgive my nostalgia, that was 1955 at the Canadian Open and he was Arnold Palmer at the Weston GC, just outside Toronto.

This week, just outside Toronto in Caledon, at this version of the RBC Canadian Open 122 years later another American rookie, in his first professional tournament, 23 year old Ben James has opened with 67 then stunned the field with a bogey free -7 63 for the lead heading into this weekend at -10.

While AP's historic 1st win here was his 21st start as a pro, this is his James's 10th PGA Tour start, but the other nine are all as an amateur after his brilliant college career at Virginia.
