TPC River Highlands is no test worth $20,000,000.. 36 hole results

PGA Tour : Travelers Championship Tee Times Leaderboard

They say TPC River Highlands can be "tricky" if the wind blows......

Viktor Hovland needed to birdie his last 2 holes to shoot 59. He settled for his career low 61 2nd at -14. Akshay Bhatia had a shot, settled for 62 T2 with first round leader Eric Cole who shot 65 because he only made straight pars on his last 8 holes....

Scott Scheffler who leads by 2 shots, said it was one of those days when "everything fell in the bottom of the cup" as his bid for 59 failed with a missed 25 footer on the 18th

His 64 60 -16 124 and all the other low 60's on this soft, easy course makes a mockery of what is meant to be a signature type course test, worth $20,000,000.

After last week's howling wind on a vey difficult US Open set up on Shinnecock, none of the players this week are daft enough to complain, we forget they are playing to make money, and this is a lot, with many more to come apparently under the new alignment being proposed for 2028 when every week will be worth $20,000,000 as long as sponsors want to cough it up and still get a bang for their buck(s).

The course record at the home of golf St Andrews is 61 by Tyrrell Hatton and Ross Fisher but that was at a flat calm Alfred Dunhill Pro Am with easy pins. The Open Championship record low is still 64 by several.

The greens will firm up with no substantial rain in the hot humid weekend forecast, but whoever wins will need the out putt all the rest who will continue taking aim.
