Omega Dubai Desert Classic leaderboard https://www.europeantour.com/european-tour/omega-dubai-desert-classic-2020/leaderboard
Dubai is 9 hours ahead of EST so as the sun sets on Friday evening the stage is set for the weekend at this Omega Desert Classic.
Eddie Pepperell has shot -5 67 to lead a group of 3 by a shot at -8. He had missed his last two cuts, but inspired by fellow Englishman Lee Westwood's change to a claw grip in winning in Abu Dhabi last week, Pepperell followed suit with great effect. Incidently Westwood opened yesterday with 78 sunk a crucial 4 footer on the 18th for 68 +2 which made the cut on the number.
A shot behind are defending champion Bryson DeChambeau (67), 50 year old Robert Karlsson (68) who just qualified for the Champions Tour at -7 along with South African Dean Burmester (68). He was involved in a 4 car pile up on Wednesday with his family when his Uber driver drove into the back of a Porsche and he admits he was reminded how precious life is, and how he was taking golf way too seriously.
Tommy Fleetwood had the comeback of the day after a first round 75, he found his putting stroke and bounced back with 65 -4 total, right in contention after possibly missing the cut.
The cut fell at +2 as I mentioned, and as the wind died down today scores improved leaving 74 players within 10 shots for the weekend.
