Rickie Fowler shot an -8 64 on Friday at PGA West's Jack Nicklaus Tournament Course for a share of the second-round lead with Scottie Scheffler. (65 64) who won the Korn Ferry Tour last year.
Canadians: Michael Gligic in his rookie season is T12 just 4 shots off the lead 69 65 -10. Nick Taylor is T18 67 68 -9. Roger Sloan 66 71 -7 T39, David Hearn 71 68 -5 T68 and Mac Hughes 71,6,9 -4 T84
Canadians have played well at this, the old Bob Hope with Mike Weir winning in 2003 and Adam Hadwin with a runner up and that 59.
Fowler hasn't played here in 6 years but wanted to get acclimated to the desert conditions.
"It was nice to get a little work in, get some good practice and play out here in the desert to get used to being back in the desert," said Fowler, who grew up about an hour away in Murrieta. "It's been very beneficial. I looked at that as something that was going to be the best opportunity for me to go into this West Coast swing to get the game where I want to and to play well."
He opened with a 65 on Thursday at La Quinta Country Club and his -15 is the lowest 36 hole of his career.
The cut comes after today's 3rd round as each player has to play all three courses, before the final round at PGA West.
