Canada’s David Hearn had his best finish of the year after he finished with a share of 5th alongside Ireland’s Seamus Power. The duo finished at -20, six back of the winners, Jon Rahm and Ryan Palmer.
The storyline behind their pairing was they were both without a partner, so Palmer, now 42 sent Rahm a text, with an invitation. The big Spaniard said yes, and they went on to combine for a -3 69 in the Sunday alternate-shot final round to win the tour’s only team event by three strokes at -26 over Rahm's mentor, Sergio Garcia, and Tommy Fleetwood -23.
It was the fourth win on tour for Palmer, having last won in 2010 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, while it was Rahm's third PGA Tour victory. He has finished in the top 10 for the seventh time this year.
They each took home $1.05 million, moving Rahm up to nearly $3.1 million this season and Palmer to about $2.3 million. They played best-ball in the first and third rounds, alternate shot second and fourth.
Other Canadians : Nick Taylor and Martin Laird T9 -19, Adam Hadwin and American Jim Knous T13 -18, Corey Connors and Mac Hughes T30 -15
