LPGA Tour LOTTE Championship leaderboard http://www.lpga.com/leaderboard
Nobody could handle the trade winds that blow through Hawaii better than Brooke Henderson last year and that proved to be the case again today as she combined power off the tee with some clutch putting for a -2 70 -16 total for another 4 shot victory at this LOTTE Championship on the island of Oahu.
She made Canadian golf history joining Mike Weir, Sandra Post and George Knudson with 8 pro titles, a record she will surely shatter in the months and years to come. It is the second time she has defended a title, she was the 2015 and 2016 champion of the Cambia Portland Classic.
Eun Hee Ji shot a 73 -12. Ariya Jutanugarn (73) and Minjee Lee (74) tied for third at -11. Nelly Korda, tied with Henderson for the third-round lead, finished with a quadruple-bogey 8 for a 77 that left her seven strokes back at -9.
She was hugged by Alena Sharp (T40 72 -2) and thanked her parents watching tonight in Smiths Falls where I'll bet most of the 9000 residents are toasting her and her sister Brittany before heading to bed.
Brooke made a bogey 6 on her opening hole, but it was all pars and 3 birdies the rest of the day aided by powerful driving and several clutch par saving putts. She made 19 birdies, an eagle and just 5 bogey's on the week, averaging 27 putts and hitting 53/72 greens in regulation. Yesterday and today she averaged almost 300 yards off the tee with her driver.
She wins $300,000 taking her career total to $5,300,981 and moves to 4th in the Race to CME Globe.
