Late rally finds DeChambeau and Koepka leading as round 2 begins at Augusta

For most of Thursday it seemed like -3 or -4 was going to be the lead on an ideal day for scoring at this 2019 Masters.

Solid rounds by Corey Connors (70) and Mike Weir (72) who were out early were holding up. Softened by 2" of rain on Tuesday the magnificent green hills of Augusta had been softened just enough to make it comfortable.

However a very late surge by the afternoon wave led by Phil Mickelson -5 (67) then Brooks Koepka (66) who birdied 5 of 6 on his back 9, then Bryson DeChambeau -6 (66) stole the day with birdies at 15, 16 and 17 where he chipped in then 18 where he hit the flagstick and dropped stone dead. So they lead by 1 shot at -6.

Dustin Johnson and Ian Poulter are 68 -4 and Tiger is in the group with Corey Connors, Frankie Molinari and Rickie Fowler at T11 at -2.

So with round two about to begin the weather for the weekend has set in, hot humid with thunder showers in the area.. particularly strong on Sunday afternoon.

Check my tee time / leaderboard links above and remember Corey is off at 11.15 and Weirsy at 11.27   this morning as they are out later than yesterday.

Without significant wind in the forecast it's looking like a shootout today for the packed leaderboard
