Add the name Haydn Porteous to your never ending list of young men who are taking the world of pro golf by storm.
The 21 year old in just his 22nd European Tour event became the second young South African in two weeks to break through with their first win, this time with a two-shot victory at the Joburg Open after he posted a bogey free 69 -18.Last week it was his 22 year old buddy, Brandon Stone who won The BMW SA Open.
He ended up two shots ahead of another Springbok and a friend he has grown up, Zander Lombard (71) as both men earned themselves a place at The Open Championship at Royal Troon.
The third spot went to England's Anthony Wall who finished T3 alongside Swede Björn Åkesson (68), American Daniel Im (70) and South African Justin Walters (69).
Porteous found his form at just the right time having missed both cuts so far this season but all that has changed as he now owns a European Tour exemption until the end of the 2017 season and can sit down and pick out his schedule for the rest of 2016... which of course will be highlighted by a trip in July to the south west coast of Scotland !
