All eyes on Abu Dhabi this week

European Tour Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship tee times http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/season=2016/tournamentid=2016004/teetimes/index.html#KUCcy95HUG2OOuof.97

With all due respect to the Career Builder Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation (the latest garish corporate name for what forever was known as The Hope) being played in the desert at La Quinta, all eyes in the golfing world this week are in the middle east, the United Arab Emirates to be exact, at Abu Dhabi where Rory McIlroy, fresh off of eye surgery and a recent engagement makes his 2016 debut on a course where he has been 2nd four times is paired with Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler for at least the first 2 rounds starting at 1040pm EST tonight, 740am local.

Meanwhile while Rory has been home in Florida, more recently in Dubai, Spieth who just had an eight shot win at the Hyundai, will make his first appearance in a regular European Tour event.

While the Irishman has been away from golf, Spieth has travelled to Australia, the Bahamas and Hawaii and remember before that he was in South Korea for the Presidents Cup and after this week will play in the Singapore Open. Such is the schedule for the world #1

"This year I kind of wanted to go out and take advantage of the year and see places that I had never seen before, on and off the course.”

Mcilroy should be well rested for his busy run up to the Masters where he will bid once again to complete the career grand slam of majors.

This is a real strong field, besides Rory and Jordan, also playing are world #6 Rickie Fowler, #5 Henrik Stenson, who makes his first start since knee surgery in December and always plays well here, speaking of which Martin Kaymer is after fourth title in Abu Dhabi and it should be a fifth when you consider last year he held a 10-shot lead with 12 holes to play before the wheels came off and Gary Stal of France became the unlikeliest of winners.
