Delaet shoots 62, Snedeker leads at the Sony Open

PGA Tour Sony Open leaderboard http://www.pgatour.com/tournaments/sony-open-in-hawaii/leaderboard.html

On Thursday Graham DeLaet was a little rusty following two months at home with his wife Ruby and their new twins, but on Friday he was firing on all cylinders, with the round of the day, -8 62 to move up the leaderboard by 92 spots following his opening 73 to sit T36 going into Saturday's play.

The other Canadian scores are : David Hearn T47  65 71 -4, Nick Taylor T66 69 68 -3, Adam Hadwin T66 71 66 -3

Leading the way in his 3rd week in Hawaii is the Huck Finn of golf Brandt Snedeker  with rounds of 63 65 -12 but there are 14 players within four shots of his lead and 24 within five, in what is shaping up to be another shoot out at the Sony Open.

The freckle face redheaded Snedeker credits his improved play to four sessions with Butch Harmon around Christmas, and since then he placed 3rd last week in Maui and now leads here going into the weekend with just one bogey on his card. In fact he is -26 after his last 72 holes. Harmon moved the ball back in his stance a little and the hands forward and those little tweaks have made all the difference. He has also put a new Bridgestone driver and golf ball in play after years playing with an old Taylor made model and the stats show he has added 10 yards in two weeks with the club.

A shot behind is the amazing Kevin Kisner who is in contention every week these days. Due to his consistant steady play he is atop the FedExCup standings and has climbed to 16th in the world after his four runner-up finishes last year followed by his first win at The RSM Classic in November.

He finished off his 66 on Friday with an eagle on his final hole to sit a shot off the lead heading into the weekend at -11 and keep in mind he and his family are living out of hotels right now while work on a house he is having built has been delayed by bad weather. One year ago, he was # 236 in the world and after he narrowly kept his PGA Tour card he went to seek the help of coach John Tillery who did a complete makeover on his swing that had him playing so badly he nearly quit the game

Zach Johnson (66) and Luke Donald (65) who has gone back to his old swing a fine wedge game are in the pack two shots behind, and three shots behind at -9 the group includes 49-year-old Jerry Kelly. Speaking of old guys, 52 year old Vijay Singh can become the PGA TOUR's oldest winner, shot 69 -8.

Jimmy Walker isn't going to three peat but he did make the cut after a 68 to finish on -3 nine shots back. Since 87 players from the 144-man field made the cut at -3, there will be a 54-hole cut after play today.
