Scottie Scheffler wins again, great week for Conners T11, Final results AP Invitational

PGA Tour: Arnold Palmer Invitational final results here.

" I made no mistakes on the back nine, 1 bogey and 8 pars was very good, that's what I credit the win to"

Scottie Scheffler poses with the trophy after winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Yesterday I mentioned whoever made the least mistakes and sunk a few more putts woiuld win, and it could have been anyone of 10 guys including Corey Connors,  but it turned out to be Scottie Scheffler, who won for the first time in completely different conditions a fortnight ago in Phoenix and just added his second with some clutch putting on the over baked greens at Bay Hill at this years AP Invitational. 70 73 68 72 -5. $2,160,000

"The greens were brutal on Saturday, and I'm surprised they allowed them to get even worse today" is how he summed them up, especially after exceptional lag putts on 17 and 18 make pars and seal his deal.

On the other hand Corey Conners struck the ball as well as or better than 95% of the field and at -3 on the turn he really had a shot, especially considering he missed 10-12 footers at the 1st and 2nd for birdies.

Three putt bogey's at 12, 13 and 17 got him home with a 74 E T11 and were the difference. I watched almost everyone of his shots, he is a remarkable ball striker, especially on tougher courses when keeping it in play consistently makes a huge difference. But on Friday night he was 105th in putting. He won $291,000

Opinion: However how the PGA Tour officials let the greens play with no grass on them, no traction, where a gust of wind would slide the ball of its course was what I consider an unfair surface for even the best to compete on.

Paul Casey shot 83, Lee Westwood 79, Rory had a 76 76 weekend and slammed the course set up after opening with 66, stating players will start avoiding the event and just concentrate on the Players with it's $20m purse, and calling the weekend like playing "crazy golf". Viktor Hovland shot 74, Billy Horschel 75 and both still finished 2nd worth $908,000.

Nick Taylor 70 77 72 74 +5 T32, $67,000 Taylor Pendrith 71 72 74 78 +7 T42 $37,464

Next week it's more of Florida at the PGA Tour HQ in Ponte Verde for the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass with a $20m purse, where Connors, Hughes, Hadwin, Pendrith and Sloan are in the field. Svensson and Pendrith are alternatives..

Unless the wind gets up I can't imagine it being a tougher test for the pros than they faced over the weekend at Bay Hill.
