Hadwin ties for the early lead at Valspar Championship, Innisbrook... live scoreboard

PGA Tour: Valspar Championship leaderboard here

Adam Hadwin won here in 2017 and has his own personalized Champions car parking spot to prove it.

There are 5 Canadians playing this year, warm sunny weather, no wind just what Canadian snowbirds fly south for, not like the week of rain and high winds at the Players Championship..

That's when we hit the malls, happy hour and a wide set of options for dinner..

WEATHER: hot sunny calm

When you have a stacked field in ideal conditions you have to go low for 4 rounds to contend, Adam Hadwin's game plan worked to perfection on Thursday. "Keep it out of the water, hit as many greens as possible"

Starting on the 10th he posted 8 birdies, just 1 bogey in ideal scoring  conditions, out in 33, back in 31 for -7 64 and the lead.

"This golf course requires patience and I took advantage of that today. A lot of things have to go right to shoot 64 around this place, just a lot of good consistent golf. I wouldn't say I felt great off the tee, but I was never in trouble, I ht it reallly well.

A lot of good quality iron shots, working off the center of the greens to the pins, giving myself chances. I like to think I'm a pretty good putter, so the more chance I give myself the better off I'll be".

RESULTS: He began this season in California at the old Bob Hope where he finished T25 (68 72 68 68) then after MC at Torrey Pines, had T16 at Pebble Beach (72 68 68 69), He was right in contention in Phoenix  (66 68 68) before slipping to 74 T26 on Sunday, MC at Riviera, then quietly (72 72 70 67) T9 at the Players, So it's been a solid year so far, At 5'8" 165 lbs he doesn't overpower courses, but when he plays on venues that suit his game like this one, he does well.

Jhonattan Vegas former Canadian Open Champ is on a roll this week so far after missing the cut last week, -7 64 and former European Tour, American David Lipski joins him with a 64 of his own as well as defending champion Sam Burns.

CANADIANS: Nick Taylor T49 -2 69, Roger Sloan, Mac Hughes and Adam Svensson are all T90 E 71 needing good results today with cut projected at -2.

Another sunny calm day is in store,

Bryan Angus
