Play called for the day at the Players Championship...Monday finish at best immanent.full leaderboard

PGA Tour. Players Championship Friday scoreboard

Remember when the course at the Honda was burned out hard and fast, then Arnie's greens at Bay Hill were scalded by the heat being so burned they had no grass and the wind was pushing the ball off course with no grip..

Then come this week, the one Canadian snowbirds hate when they fly south for sun, and a cold front with rain and dropping temperatures moves in...they may as well stayed home in North Bay

Overnight thunderstorms and rain have delayed the first round of The Players Championship.

PLAY FOR FRIDAY is postponed after an early pre storm start at 715am leaving this $20m flag ship Players event hanging in the balance, most likely a wind blown weekend and a Monday finish.....and a lot of pissed off snowbirds..Here is the pgatour.com explanation..

Just four hours of play were completed Friday before play was suspended again because of unplayable conditions. Players did not return to the course Friday, leaving 47 players yet to complete the first round (Luke List withdrew mid-round) and a requiring a Monday finish at earliest. “We’re into a Monday finish,” said PGA TOUR Chief Referee Gary Young. “We know that.” The opening round will resume no earlier than 11 a.m. ET Saturday, with players to receive the next update at 7 a.m. ET. The last Monday finish at THE PLAYERS came in 2005, with Fred Funk as champion.

Canadian scores Friday night..

Taylor Pendrith T9 -4 68...Corey Conners T33 -2 70, Adam Hadwin -1 thru 13.., Mac Hughes E 72 T80, and Roger Sloan +1 73 T97....

No play until 11am Saturday with rain expected to blow out around 1pm then heavy winds take over with the field needing to deal with it over the weekend..

Opinion: Saturday afternoon will be wildly windy when the Tour begins to get all the players in action.

Sunday is cold 55*f by Florida standards but dry and tons of golf will be played in 20mph winds..

Monday will be the finish...one way or another..

Stay tuned,

Bryan Angus
