England's Marcus Armitage got a 430am wake up call to begin his Wednesday at the Al Hamra GS in the UAE, and he obviously got out of the right side of his bed.
Three hours later, in flat calm conditions he went of the 10th tee made a 40 footer for birdie and never looked back posting 11 birdies in a -9 63 to lead the field by 4 clear shots after the opening round of this Ras Al Khaimah Championship.
When asked what the key to his success was he said " Me putta was on fire, it was one of those days that everything I looked at I was thinkin' of makin' in his Manchester accent.
He is currently owgr 324 and 80th in the Race to Dubai and has just returned to active playing after a month off to rest and refresh.
Of note Paddy Harrington who plays mainly on the Champions Tour is in a large group T4 -4 68.
Canadian Aaron Cockerill started with a bogey on the 10th, went out in +1 37, made 2 birdies and 2 bogey's coming in but has to return this morning to play 1 more hole,, the par 4 9th as play was suspended because of darkness.
