Blustering winds set for a final say at Farmers Insurance... Saturday scoreboard

PGA Tour : Farmers Insurance Leaderboard

Last week it was the ideal benign California desert weather on the 3 easiest courses at La Quinta, the pros play all year.

Later today with winds forecast to be persistent at 18mph gusting to 28mph as the day goes on, Torrey Pines south with its lush rough and hard  greens will be in the words of leader Harris English " one of the toughest we play all year".

To make matters worse it has switched to the south for the first time all week. When winds arrived on Thursday it played to an average score of 75.56.

English shot -6 66 to take the lead at -9, with young American Andrew Novak at 66 -8 then South African rookie Aldrich Potgieter rounding out the frame at 67 -7.

However this event is reknown for come from behind final round winners, recently Max Homa won from 5 shots behind, in the past Brand Snedeker from 6 and 7 back for his two wins. After A Friday 68 he's T8 at -4.

Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama and Sahith Theegala all with good records here are at -3.
