PGA Tour American Express tee times here
To many older fans it will always be the Bob Hope, today it's called the American Express being played at Nicklaus Stadium course and PGA West tournament course in the California desert.
It was always a treat when Hope who lived to 103, was in his prime, a decent player but a legendary comedian, who's tastiest stuff was aimed at American presidents, most of whom came out and played in the celebrity pro-am. Arnie won it 5 times and he always had a president as a partner, with Hope providing the colour commentating
On Gerald Ford " President Ford never has any trouble remembering his score on a hole...he just counts the bodies being attended to in the fairway"....
Sadly the pro-ams are much more corporate these days, raising tons of money for charity, but not much entertaining. This year country star Jake Owen and ex soccer star Landon Donovan will play a 9 hole Charity Challenge for $1m teamed up with Tony Finau and Paul Casey and emceed by Phil Mickelson today.
Canadians: Nick Taylor 1040am, Roger Sloan 1110am, Adam Hadwin 10.00am, Michael Gligic 10.10am, David Hearn 10.20am.
