Patrick Reed (70) and Carlos Ortiz who's -6 66 on a tough south course at Torrey Pines was the best of the day are tied for the lead at -10 going into today's final round of the Farmers Insurance Open.
There was some discussion about Reed again, this time his drive into the soft rough he deemed embedded and he picked it up before calling for the referee to confirm. He didn't think it had bounced, although TV proved it had, and many thought he should have left it for the ref to decide, however the official in question deemed his actions "textbook" giving the oft beleaguered pro the benefit of the doubt.
However they are being chased by a lot of high quality players like defending champion Jon Rahm 72, Adam Scott 72 and Victor Hovland 73 all at -8, then Rory McIlroy 70 at -7 along with Korn Ferry Tour leader Will Zalatoris 70.
Adam Hadwin T20 73 -4 is the only Canadian in the top 20, six shots back, with Corey Connors T45 E 73 and Roger Sloan T67 78 +3 looking to improve his paycheck.
There is no rain n the forecast and very little wind for this championship Sunday with overcast skies, and temperatures in the mid 60's F, ideal for scoring I'd say.
