Paul Casey at 43 can still hit it out there with the young guys and today he made 5 birdies in 10 holes then made a birdie eagle finish to grab the lead at -15, a shot ahead of young Scottish lefty Robert MacIntyre (68) -14.
Casey smashed a drive over the corner of the iconic 564 yard par 5 dog leg left, then a 3 iron up and over th pond guarding the green, settling 15 feet below the pin. He made the putt and had this to say afterwards.
"We always say if you stand still out there you'll go backwards, the young guys come up every year longer and stronger and they putt it better. I'm lucky my physical attributes allow me to get it out there, maybe for another 5 years. Westy at 47 is an inspiration, I saw him today and he is still looking fit."
So it will be and Englishman and a Scot, Casey -15 and MacIntyre -14 in the final group on Sunday, with some strong competition from Brandon Stone (66) -13, Sergio Garcia (67) -10 amongst those chasing.
